Amazon Chime 4.22 Release Notes

Features and Enhancements delivered in the June 13th, 2019 Amazon Chime release.

Amazon Chime version 4.22 for Android, iOS, and the web is now available for all users. 4.21 Mac and Windows clients have also been updated to support chat bots, and improved contact search.


Chat Bots [Windows/Mac/iOS/Android/Web]

With Amazon Chime chat bots you can utilize the power of Amazon Lex, AWS Lambda, and other AWS services to build custom conversational interfaces that streamline collaborative workflows, enabling users to complete common tasks involving multiple tools without switching context. Bots created may enable users to query for information from internal knowledge stores, automate tasks, receive notifications for critical issues, create support tickets, or perform any number of tasks the bot creator makes available. Adding bots to an enterprise Chime account is as simple as simple as providing a bot name and an HTTPS endpoint or by integrating directly with AWS Lambda. Once a bot is added to a Chime account by your Chime account administrator, room administrators can add it to a room using the bot's assigned email address, and room members interact with the bot through @ mentions.

Amazon Chime Add-in for Microsoft Outlook [Outlook Add-In]

On March 12th, we announced the availability of our new Add-in for Outlook with compatibility for Outlook for Mac and Office 365 support. This add-in has now been updated to match the scheduling experience available on our desktop clients and Add-in for Outlook on Windows. When you schedule a meeting and select dial-in options, the numbers you select will be remembered and preselected the next time you schedule a meeting.


AudioCodes and FRAFOS

AudioCodes and FRAFOS SBCs help enterprises securely connect their on-premises phone systems to Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking services for voice calling. When combined with the Amazon Chime Voice Connector, customers can reduce their voice calling costs up to 50% by eliminating fixed telephone network costs, and simplifying their voice network administration. AudioCodes SBCs are certified by Microsoft for Teams Direct Routing, enabling customers to add low-cost voice calling from AWS to their Teams deployments. Both AudioCodes and FRAFOS SBCs are designed to run in the AWS cloud, further simplifying customer's enterprise deployments. The FRAFOS SBC is currently available in the AWS Marketplace with hourly pricing.


Sennheiser Certification

After joining the AWS Partner Network (APN) in March 2019, Sennheiser announced product interoperability on Amazon Chime for two of its headsets: the SC165 USB, designed for flexible workers on the go, and the D10 USB, a headset for office-based professionals.


Improvements to contact search [Windows/Mac/iOS/Android/Web]

Searching for contacts is now easier to find the right contact when searching for a specific contact by email address.
