Amazon Chime users can choose to mute 1:1, group chat or chat rooms. Apply the setting from one device and it will be reflected on your devices

For chat rooms, when you Mute Room notifications we will not play a sound when new posts are made (including @ mentions). If the chat room is open on a device, we will show unread notification counts.

If you close/hide the 1:1, group message or chat room (hover over the cell and click on the X) you will no longer receive unread messages for that item. If you receive an @mention in the room or if you receive a new message from a 1:1 or group message that is hidden, Chime will open that thread and include the message(s) in your unread count.

This setting can be found by navigating to the chat room and on desktop, choosing the bell icon in the upper right and select Mute. You can also click on the three dot menu to the right of the chat room name in the left navigation and choose Notification settings > Notification settings: mute. On mobile, choose the options icon and select Notification settings and then Mute.

For 1:1 or group messages, click on the bell icon in the upper right to toggle between mute and unmute. You can also select the three dot menu in the upper right and choose Mute notifications. On mobile, choose the options icon and select Notification settings and then Mute.

When your chat room, 1:1 or group chat is muted, the mute icon will be displayed when the thread is listed in the left navigation. Amazon Chime will still display unread counts, it just won't make a notification sound or display the message preview.
