How do I get screen share working on macOS using the Amazon Chime web app on Chrome?

When you try to share screen content, Google Chrome only lets you share other browser tabs and you cannot share other application windows or the entire screen.

Toggle the Screen Recording permissions in System Preferences

  1. Navigate to Apple menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy tab
  2. Choose Screen Recording from the list on the left side
  3. Unlock the lock in the lower left (you will be prompted for credentials)
  4. Make sure there is a check in front of Google Chrome (and Amazon Chime if you have it installed).

Note: If Google Chrome is already selected, you may need to de-select it, save and restart Chrome then return and select it
  5. Restart Chrome

You may also need to reset screen capture with the tccutil command

  1. Quit Chrome
  2. Open Terminal
  3. Issue this command
    tccutil reset ScreenCapture com.google.Chrome
  4. Start Chrome
