If Amazon Chime no longer opens meetings from chime://meeting/?pin=xxxxx links and does not open the meeting, try this first:

  • Sign out of Amazon Chime and then sign back in.

If you click on a meeting link and your browser always opens the Amazon Chime client (and you want it to open the web application, you may have previously chosen the option to always open the Amazon Chime client. You can reset the protocol handler of your browser to prompt you so that you can open your meeting in the Amazon Chime web application.

Google Chrome

  3. In your Explorer, select View in the ribbon and check the “Hidden Items” box to reveal more files.
  4. Open the Preferences file with a text editor like Notepad.
  5. Search for the phrase “allowed_origin_protocol_pairs” which houses your list of protocol handler preferences in the text file.
  6. Search for the chime protocol {"https://app.chime.aws":{"chime":true} and change its state from “true” to “false,” taking care not to remove any punctuation.
  7. Save the file, and re-open Chrome.
