You can consume voice connector in two different ways:

Outbound calling only

In this deployment model, you use Amazon Chime Voice Connector for low-cost outbound calling to public switched telephone network (PSTN) phone numbers or Amazon Chime meetings. You leave your phone numbers on your exiting carrier. The Voice Connector is typically provisioned as a “route” for least-cost-routing within your IP Private Branch Exchange (PBX). You can send some or all of your outbound traffic to Voice Connector- we only charge for usage. Use this option as the first step in deploying Voice Connector.

Inbound and outbound calling
In this deployment model, you either acquire new phone numbers or port phone numbers in from your existing carrier. You can move some or all of the phone numbers to Amazon Chime.

For more details regarding deployment scenarios see this white paper.
