Why can't I find one of my AD users in the Amazon Chime console?

We have a new user that's been added to our Microsoft Active Directory and they are a member of our "Amazon Chime Users" AD group which grants our other users Basic access. However, this new user still does not appear in my Amazon Chime administration console. What can we do to enable an account that does not appear?

Your AD users will not show up in the administration console until they have logged into an Amazon Chime client at least once. Below are instructions you can provide to your users:

  1. Download one of the Amazon Chime clients (see https://aws.amazon.com/chime/trial).
  2. Enter your email address and choose Sign In / Sign Up.
  3. Choose the option to sign in with Active Directory.
  4. Provide your corporate credentials (Note that this tends to not be the user's full email address).
Once the user has signed in to an Amazon Chime client their Amazon Chime profile will be created and the following will happen:
  • The user information will be available in the Amazon Chime administration console.
  • The user will be available to other users that have registered who are also in the Active Directory and displayed in dialogs such as:
    • Message search
    • Invite others (to a meeting)
    • Adding a delegate
    • My contacts
