How do I change my user account so it does not show Private?

My colleagues are seeing a lock instead of my busy|available|mobile status.

To change your presence so it is no longer being seen as a lock icon to everyone, do the following from one of your clients. Change it on one device and the setting will be reflected on all your devices!

Mobile:

  • Navigate to Settings (gear icon in the upper left) > in the Share presence status with section choose Everyone.

Desktop:

  • Choose the User menu (drop down next to your name in the upper left) and uncheck the Private option. Choose one of the other presence indicators (e.g. Automatic)
