There are several ways to turn off Background Blur.

  1. Anytime via Settings: Navigate to Settings (click on your name in the upper left of the main Amazon Chime window) > click the Audio and video tab and uncheck Blur background under Video settings.
  2. During a Meeting: Click the up arrow next to the video icon on the lower control bar and uncheck Blur my background.
  3. From device preview while joining a Meeting: Uncheck the Blur background option under Video settings. The change should be reflected in the preview of the video camera.

Troubleshooting

If your background remains blurred, check your camera to be sure the System Settings are not blurring your background. For instance, if you use a macOS and FaceTime, your background may be blurred if you have your video set to Portrait. You many need to turn off Portrait to allow Amazon Chime to control your Background blur and strength.

Make sure Portrait setting is not turned on for macOS Sonoma users
